This will happen after the parliamentary elections in Armenia.
The border between Turkey and Armenia will be opened after the parliamentary elections in the republic, which will be held on June 7. Baku's ambassador to Ankara Rashad Mammadov told this in an interview with Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet.
After the June 7 elections, Armenian representatives will change the constitution and hold a referendum, he said.
"After that, the borders between Armenia and Turkey, as well as between Armenia and Azerbaijan will be opened," the ambassador added.
Mamedov noted that Baku is implementing the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey. He claims that the establishment of Azerbaijan's control over Karabakh has raised hopes for the opening of border crossings between Turkey and Armenia.
The border between Turkey and Armenia has been closed for public use since 1993. In 2025, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed hope that opening the border with Turkey and establishing diplomatic relations between the countries is a matter of time.
