The Armenian Prime Minister informed Putin of his decision.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said he will not attend the Eurasian Economic Union summit to be held in Astana.
He said he notified Putin of his decision in advance during his visit to Moscow on April 1. The reason for the refusal was the election campaign in Armenia on the eve of the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7.
Pashinyan also said that on Sunday he personally contacted the Kazakh president and informed him of his inability to attend the meeting.
Armenia will be represented at the summit by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
