A date for the visit has been named.
US President Donald Trump will discuss with Chinese President Si Jinping the economic and military support Beijing provides to Moscow during his visit to China.
This was reported by Reuters, citing statements by officials in Washington announcing the US president's upcoming state visit to China.
The topics for discussion include the situation around Iran, Taiwan, Russia, artificial intelligence, nuclear weapons, and the extension of a critical minerals agreement.
The U.S. and China are expected to agree to set up forums to promote mutual trade and investment, with China expected to announce purchases related to Boeing airplanes, U.S. agriculture and energy.
The meeting may formally announce plans for a Chamber of Commerce and an Investment Council, but an official said those mechanisms may need further refinement before they can be implemented.
The two leaders will also discuss extending a trade war truce that allows rare earth minerals from China to be shipped from China to the United States - but the fate of that issue is not yet clear.
Other hot-button issues include Taiwan, nuclear weapons, Iran and artificial intelligence.
In addition, the Trump administration recalled the pressure the US is putting on China over its relationship with Russia.
"The president has discussed Iran and Russia with General Secretary Xi Jinping on several occasions, including the revenue China provides to both of those countries, as well as dual-use goods, components and parts, not to mention the potential for arms exports," a US official said.
"I expect that conversation to continue," he added.
