A Key Oil Refinery In Moscow Is On Fire Near Sheremetyevo Airport

A fire broke out following a drone attack.

In the vicinity of Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport on Saturday, October 31, a fire broke out. Shortly before that, an air raid alert had been issued at the airport.

According to Exilenova+, a drone—presumably shot down—crashed approximately two kilometers from the airport.

The channel also published the coordinates of the crash site, but there is no independent confirmation of this information yet.

Meanwhile, the Telegram channel DroneBomber, citing satellite images, reported a fire at the L-35-11/1000 catalytic reforming unit. It is used to refine gasoline and increase its octane rating to 93–98.

The processing complex includes hydrocracking, reforming, and isomerization units. Its design capacity is 1 million metric tons of feedstock per year, and one of the byproducts of processing is hydrogen-containing gas.

In other words, the fire may have affected a key oil refining facility operated by the occupying forces in the capital region. However, it remains unclear whether this was a targeted strike or if aerial targets fell on the facility following an engagement by Russian air defense systems.
