Today, October 24, large-scale nationwide demonstrations are taking place in France to protest the rising cost of living. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing BFMTV and France 24.
The number of people detained was announced by French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez. He officially confirmed that 135 people were detained.
Núñez also added that there are currently “136 street protests” taking place, whereas last Saturday “at the same time” there were twice as many.

According to the latest estimates, 35,000 people took to the streets for protests in public places on October 24, compared to 60,000 on October 17.
In addition, it is reported that in Orléans, people are protesting against the convention of the “National Rally” party, whose informal leader is Marine Le Pen. March participants chanted anti-fascist slogans.

“Macron must resign!” “Le Pen—behind bars!”—echoed through the crowd.
Protesters also held signs with slogans such as “Youth says ‘screw you’ to the National Rally.”

According to police, about 11,000 people took part in the demonstration.
In preparation for a new wave of protests, French boutiques carrying luxury brands boarded up their lavish storefronts with wooden shields and hired private security.
Some stores decided not to reopen after the weekend, when rioters looted retail establishments in various regions of the country.
