Ukraine will not recognize the occupied territories as Russian.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that he is ready to sign a peace agreement today if he had the opportunity. He made this statement in an interview with ABC News, outlining the conditions for ending the war.

“We are ready to end this war as soon as possible,” he said.

The President of Ukraine emphasized that Ukraine is ready to freeze the conflict along the current front line.

At the same time, when asked by a journalist whether he would agree to a deal if it meant giving up 25% of Ukraine’s territory, the president emphasized that the Russians had captured only 19.3% of the territory, and that 25% would mean Ukraine’s withdrawal from the Donbas.

“They haven’t occupied 25% of our territory. When someone talks about 25%, it means that we would have to voluntarily withdraw from our territory in Donbas. And that would mean that, yes, they would control 25%. Right now, they control 19.3%,” Zelenskyy said.
He added that Ukraine will not recognize the occupied territories of Donbas as Russian.

“Of course, we won’t go along with that. I’ve heard proposals that would make the temporarily occupied territory part of Russia,” he added.

Zelenskyy also emphasized that Ukraine cannot afford a weak president right now.

“Ukraine cannot afford a weak president right now. Perhaps after the war—any kind of president... But right now, if Ukraine wants to survive, it needs a strong army, a strong president, and a strong people... That’s why I will, of course, respond to any pressure directed at me. Because otherwise, they’ll devour us,” he emphasized.
