Trump Hinted That The Russian General Who Failed To Carry Out An Offensive On Kyiv In 2022 Is Already Dead
Alexander Chaiko

Journalists compared the U.S. president's account with the facts.

Donald Trump believes that the Russian general who failed to capture Kyiv in 2022 is no longer alive, according to “Dialog.UA”.

“I have no idea who he is; I doubt he’s still alive; I doubt he’s still with us,” Trump said while speaking with reporters at the White House on October 20.

According to him, this “very stupid general” ordered a column of a thousand tanks to veer off the concrete highway onto farmland, where the vehicles got stuck in the mud.

Trump claimed that otherwise, the Russian offensive could have ended with the capture of the Ukrainian capital in a single day: “Nothing could have stopped them. The war would have ended in a single day. But this very stupid general […] decided to turn right onto farmland, then left, and head toward Kyiv. Instead of staying on the highway—a concrete highway, a perfectly good road on which they were making excellent progress… As a result, the tanks got stuck in the mud.”

Russian journalists compared Trump’s account with the command structure of the forces advancing on Kyiv. The description fits Alexander Chaiko and Alexander Lapin, both of whom are alive. Chaiko commanded the “Vostok” group, whose forces were advancing toward Kyiv through the Chernobyl zone, Ivankiv, Irpin, and Bucha. Lapin led the “Center” group, which advanced from the northeast through the Chernihiv and Sumy regions. Neither group was able to accomplish the mission of encircling and capturing the Ukrainian capital.
