Lavrov Made A Statement Ahead Of Putin's Meeting With Whitcroft
Sergey Lavrov

The Kremlin does not expect any "miracles" from the Trump administration.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the Kremlin would consider the U.S. proposal to end the war against Ukraine if it were “economically and financially advantageous,” but would not “make any political concessions.” This is reported by Russian media, as cited by Dialog.UA.

Lavrov asserts that Russia will consider the updated U.S. peace proposal if it is “economically and financially beneficial” to Russia. He said that Russia will not make any “political concessions” under any circumstances.

According to him, the Kremlin does not expect a “miracle” from the administration of President Donald Trump regarding the lifting of sanctions. He cautioned against celebrating Trump’s decision not to apply the “Graham Act” on “hellish sanctions” against Russia, as this could change under a different U.S. president.

U.S. Presidential Special Representative Steve Whitcoff will fly to St. Petersburg on October 21 to meet with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

The American envoy will present him with a new peace proposal outlining the terms for ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, which was developed by the U.S. and agreed upon with Zelenskyy and Europe during negotiations on October 20 in Norway.

During the talks in Oslo, Whitcoff discussed new ideas for ending Russia’s war against Ukraine with Zelenskyy and European representatives.

Some of these ideas were proposed by Kyiv and European countries. The U.S. is reportedly ready to provide Ukraine with security guarantees similar to Article 5 of the NATO Charter (collective security).
