The eldest son of U.S. President Donald Trump Jr. privately expressed his opposition to the war against Iran and repeatedly criticized the military campaign in conversations with close associates and his father.

According to the publication’s sources, Trump Jr. opposed the war from the very beginning. He has long been skeptical of U.S. military intervention abroad and believed that Washington should not get involved in yet another conflict in the Middle East.
During the 2024 presidential campaign, he supported his father’s pledge not to drag the U.S. into a new war in the region. In April of that year, when Iran attacked Israel with missiles and drones, Trump Jr. wrote on social media platform X:
“Remember when people said Trump would drag us into a full-scale war with Iran? Moments like this should make us all realize how lucky we are to have Trump, with his strength and resolve,” the U.S. president’s son wrote at the time.
Now that America is waging a full-scale war against Iran, the president’s stance contradicts his son’s expectations, notes The Atlantic.
At the same time, Trump Jr. has not publicly criticized his father over the war.
“Don has kept his views on this matter private, as he would never publicly oppose his father on such an issue,” said a source close to the president’s son who spoke to the publication.
A spokesperson for Trump Jr. declined to comment on this information. The White House also did not directly answer a question about his position. At the same time, one administration official stated that Iran had suffered devastating losses and that the conflict “will end very soon one way or another.”
