British blogger Ben Graham also posted on X about rumors of Kim’s possible death, urging people to treat them with caution.
“To be absolutely clear: none of this has been officially confirmed. There have been false rumors about Kim Jong-un’s death in the past, so I’m taking these latest claims with a grain of salt,” he wrote.
I certainly didn’t have Kim Jong-un dying on my 2026 bingo card.
Extraordinary rumors are circulating that the North Korean dictator has suffered a major health crisis, received treatment in Beijing, and may have died.
Major newspapers, including The Sun, are now reporting on the speculation.
To be absolutely clear, none of this has been officially confirmed.
There have been false rumors of Kim Jong-un’s death in the past, so I’m extremely cautious about believing these latest claims.
If true, however, this would be one of the biggest geopolitical developments of 2026.

An account named Anonymous also reported on the spread of such rumors, noting that there has been no official confirmation from North Korean or Chinese authorities. These posts alone do not confirm the information about Kim’s condition.
According to The Sun, the North Korean leader last appeared in public on October 11, when he visited the defense museum in Pyongyang.
North Korea analyst Benedict Rogers, in a comment to the YouTube channel of the publication From The Newsroom, pointed out that rumors of the DPRK leader’s death have surfaced before.
“I think if he had died, we would have found out about it fairly quickly. Following the death of a supreme leader, there has always been an organized, mass display of public mourning. People in the streets wailed and wept. News anchors spoke very emotionally. So far, we haven’t seen anything like that,” he said.
Rogers speculated that the regime will either announce Kim Jong-un’s death or release evidence proving that he is alive.
The Sun notes that in 2020, after Kim Jong-un disappeared from public view, rumors of his death also circulated on social media. At that time, a former diplomat claimed that the North Korean leader was in a coma and preparing to hand over power to his sister, Kim Yo-jong.
According to analysts cited by the publication, in the event of Kim’s death, his sister could temporarily lead the country until his daughter, Kim Ju-ae, comes of age. No successor to the North Korean leader has been officially announced.
