“Slonimski Vestnik”, a newspaper of the Slonim district executive committee, didn’t write a single line about the signature collecting campaign to nominate presidential candidates.
On November 10, three articles in the column “Election 2010” were suddenly published in the local newspaper.
One of the articles catches the eye with its headline, “No Chances for Opposition Representative”. The article says that an opposition representative doesn’t have any chances to win at the presidential election. The author refers to opinion polls carried out by Lukashenka-controlled research center EcooM in October 2010 and says that 81% of the respondents think Alyaksandr Lukashenka will be elected president again, the campaign “Human Rights Activists for Free Elections” reports.
