The opposition representatives, suffered during the solidarity action of September 16, are going to complain about actions of militia to a prosecutor’s office.

On Solidarity Day September 16, an action timed to the anniversary of disappearance of opposition leaders Viktar Hanchar and Anatol Krasouski was scattered in Minsk. Riot militiamen beat MP candidates, including UCP leader Anatol Lyabedzka, BPF deputy head Vintsuk Vyachorka, his son Franak Vyachorka and others. Riot militiamen tore up European and national flags.

As head of the youth BPF commission Franak Vyachorka said, he was going to make a complaint about actions of riot militiamen to a prosecutor’s office. “I have scratches and hematomas at my legs after the yesterday’s incident. After addressing the prosecutor’s office, I will be able to receive an appointment card for medical examination, where beatings will be recorded,” F. Vyachorka said.

According to him, the demonstrators didn’t provoke such actions of militia officers. “the situation was provoked by riot militia,” F. Vyachorka told.

Moreover, the activist is going to address the international institutions asking to estimate the situation in Belarus ahead of the “parliamentary election” again.

BPF deputy head Vintsuk Vyachorka also plans to appeal to the prosecutor’s office upon actions of riot militia. According to him, he didn’t suffer, but militiamen broke his glasses. “We were how “democratic” Belarus is ahead of the “election”. We were also shown what will be in Belarus after the “election”. We a re going to inform the international society about it,” V. Vyachorka emphasised.

As leader of the United Civil Party Anatol Lyabedzka said, on September 17, a session of the presidium of the political council of the United Democratic Forces was held based on the results of the action. “We adopted a statement, which estimates the action. It is also a claim to the prosecutor’s office. We have two decisions of the Supreme Court saying similar actions are not pickets. So, we will demand the prosecutor’s office to explain who is wrong – Minsk mayor Mikhail Paulau and minister of internal affaires Uladzimir Navumau or the Supreme Court. If the Supreme Court is right, militia officers have no grounds for forcing people out of square and beating them,” A. Lyabedzka said.
