"We Want To Go Home": Russians Received A "Warm" Welcome In Belarus

Reality didn't live up to expectations.

A resident of St. Petersburg hroniki_ritika visited Belarus and shared her impressions on Threads.

“Everyone says that Belarusians love Russians,” she writes. “So I got curious about what it’s really like here. It’s our second day, and we want to go home.”

Social media users told the author of the post about Belarusians’ actual attitude toward Russians. The website Charter97.org cites some comments:

— It always makes me laugh when Russians say they want to move here. No one is waiting for them there. They should just try to survive on their own.
— Nobody likes Russians anywhere.

— Belarusians treat with respect those who treat them with respect—those who don’t display imperialist tendencies.

— Go ahead. Nobody invited you here.
