More than 40 people were injured in a train crash in northwestern France on Friday evening; one female passenger is in critical condition.
This was reported by BFMTV.
The accident involving a TER regional train occurred around 7:30 p.m. on the line between Rouen and Caen in northwestern France, near the towns of Cléon and Tourville-la-Rivière.
The local prefecture reported 44 injured; one 18-year-old female passenger is in critical condition.

According to police sources, the preliminary theory regarding the cause of the accident is that the electric locomotive struck an unknown object on the tracks; however, no official statements have been made. A total of five cars derailed, one of which overturned.

The accident severely disrupted service on the line: four trains from Le Havre and Rouen to Paris arrived with delays of several hours.
