A Belarusian Woman Is Among Those Missing In Nepal

The country is experiencing widespread flooding.

A Belarusian citizen is among the tourists reported missing in Nepal. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, citing the Belarusian Embassy in India, according to BelTA.

“The Belarusian Embassy in India has received information that a Belarusian citizen is among the missing group of tourists,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

The ministry emphasized that the circumstances and details are currently being clarified.

This Wednesday, on the border between Nepal and Chinese Tibet, the Bhote Koshi River burst its banks, destroying several villages, as well as roads and hydroelectric power plants. Local authorities report an “ice and rock avalanche” triggered by an earthquake. The avalanche, in turn, caused widespread flooding. According to Nepalese police, 353 people have died, and more than 1,000 are listed as missing, including at least 700 foreigners.
