Scientists Spotted A Mysterious Shape In A NASA Image Of Mars

This unusual object seems to be standing on two "legs."

A dark shape resembling a mechanical device was spotted in a photograph taken by the Curiosity rover.

A photo of an unknown object—which appears to be standing on two “legs” on the surface of Mars—posted on social media platform X has sparked new speculation about the existence of intelligent extraterrestrials on Mars. The object resembles a jellyfish or some kind of mechanical device, according to Daily Mail.

Kari Sievertzen, a space enthusiast who frequently posts photos taken by NASA spacecraft on social media platform X, shared an image captured by the Curiosity rover in Gale Crater.

The photo shows the Martian landscape and a small figure in the distance with a black body that appears to be standing on two “legs.” Sivertsen wrote that she believes life exists on other planets and that it may also exist on Mars.

It is important to note that the NASA website features a set of several images showing the same section of the Martian surface. However, in images taken shortly after the mysterious figure was captured, no such object is visible.

In the comments, skeptics point out that this figure is most likely just the result of some kind of camera malfunction and that, in reality, NASA’s rover did not detect anything unusual.

Other social media users, however, noted that this is “one of the best UFO photos on Mars,” a sign of the existence of an extraterrestrial civilization, since it could be a device created by aliens, and that it “doesn’t look like a typical dust devil on Mars.”

The Curiosity rover has been exploring Gale Crater since 2012. It is attempting to detect signs of microbial life on the Red Planet. So far, only indirect evidence has been found that extraterrestrial life may have existed on Mars.

Photos like these often catch people’s attention because the human brain naturally tries to recognize familiar shapes in strange images. This phenomenon is known as pareidolia.
