Media: New Chinese Airliner Is "Falling Apart" In The Air

A document from the Chinese airline China Southern Airlines regarding the new COMAC C919 aircraft has appeared online. It is dated May of this year and contains a list of critical defects in the aircraft, according to The Epoch Times.

The document’s authenticity has not been confirmed, but that hasn’t stopped the aviation community from actively discussing its contents.

Among the identified defects in the C919 are oil leaks in the dry wing compartment, damage to fire alarm circuit mountings, delamination of the flap panel, jamming of the de-icing system valves, and a scorched power supply panel in the rear galley. Some of these malfunctions were already known during aircraft acceptance and flight testing, but continued to occur after the aircraft entered service.

It is reported that problems with the new aircraft occurred repeatedly. In particular, on one of the C919s (registration number B-659F), the first serious malfunction occurred just 13 hours after it entered service.

The document refers not to isolated incidents, but to recurring malfunctions, which the authors describe as “systemic problems that have existed for a long time.”

According to the report, China Southern demanded that COMAC disclose information about previously identified defects and provide plans to rectify them. The airline currently operates 12 C919 aircraft and has ordered another 88. In total, its order book includes 100 of these aircraft, with deliveries scheduled through 2031.
