According to sources, the plan for a military strike was discussed during a U.S. Cabinet meeting on Friday. The targets of the attacks will most likely be energy infrastructure, including power plants and oil refineries.

According to the sources, Israel has been notified and is coordinating its actions with the U.S. However, they clarify that Trump has not yet given final approval for the strikes.

“High-level talks involving U.S. representatives took place on Friday regarding a power outage in Tehran, but as of Friday afternoon, no decision had been made,” the publication writes.

A joint operation would mark Israel’s return to hostilities, which the country had suspended during a U.S.-brokered ceasefire. At the same time, as is well known, the U.S. resumed attacks on Iran in early July, but Tehran has not struck Israel during that time.

A former U.S. official told CBS that strikes on Iran’s energy sector would affect the Iranian military’s ability to provide services and effectively govern the country.

At the same time, a current Israeli official told the network that Israel knows nothing about preparations for strikes against Iran.

“Israel is not aware of any decision to resume full-scale military operations, and Israel has not been asked to join any military operations against Iran,” he said.

However, it is important to note that, according to The Wall Street Journal, Trump has already ordered a new attack on Iran with the aim of forcing Tehran to capitulate. Sources at that media outlet also say the attack could begin this weekend and last several days.
