Ukraine Has Signed A Drone Deal With Estonia And The Netherlands

Kyiv is also working on a similar agreement with Canada.

On July 7, during the NATO summit in Ankara, Ukraine signed defense agreements under the “Drone Deal” framework with Estonia and the Netherlands, and is also preparing a similar agreement with Canada. The agreements provide for the development of joint production of drones, defense technologies, and air defense systems.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on Telegram.

Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine had signed a “Drone Deal” agreement with Denmark. According to him, this is already the ninth such agreement for Ukraine.

The president emphasized that more and more partners are joining this framework, which opens up new opportunities for joint defense production, the exchange of expertise, and ensuring transparency in arms exports.

“Together, we are building a new security architecture. It was with Denmark that we began joint production in Ukraine under the Danish model, and it is only fair that Denmark will now gain access to Ukraine’s battle-tested arms exports,” the president added.

In addition, Zelenskyy reported that during his meeting with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, the parties discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and developing a European system to counter ballistic threats.

A defense cooperation agreement under the “Drone Deal” framework was signed with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Mihal during a meeting in Ankara.

“This agreement is not only a path toward closer cooperation between our countries. It is a step forward and a sign of trust, because we are concluding such an agreement with a very close friend, and this is of immense importance. We will develop joint military production in both countries, particularly of critical air defense systems,” Zelenskyy said.

According to “Interfax-Ukraine,” Ukraine also signed a Drone Deal with the Netherlands. The agreement was signed by Zelenskyy and Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten.

“We are very pleased that our teams have prepared the Drone Deal,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

The agreement lays the foundation for broad, structural cooperation between Ukraine and the Netherlands in the field of joint drone production and broader defense cooperation.

Before the signing ceremony, Jetten reaffirmed his support for Ukraine and called for continued and increased pressure on Russia.

Zelenskyy also thanked Canada for a new $900 million support package.

“Above all, we are focused on ensuring we have more air defense capabilities. Protecting lives is the top priority, and Russian strikes with ballistic and other missiles, as well as drones, constitute a form of terror that we must overcome together with our partners,” the president emphasized.

Zelenskyy added that an agreement in the form of a “Drone Deal” is also being prepared between Ukraine and Canada.

According to him, this involves not only drones but also a new and effective security system, as well as practical, battle-tested capabilities. This will certainly be helpful.

The president also noted that Canada has invited Ukraine to become a founding member of a bank focused on defense, security, and sustainability. It will focus on raising capital and developing defense-industrial capabilities and technologies that have been tested in real combat conditions.
