All 100 U.S. Senators Have Been Invited To A Meeting With Zelenskyy At The Capitol

Amid Congress's consideration of a bill imposing "severe" sanctions against Russia.

All 100 U.S. senators were invited to a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday, as Congress considers a bill imposing “severe” sanctions against Russia.

According to The Hill, the meeting will take place at the U.S. Capitol at 6:00 p.m. local time (1:00 a.m. Wednesday in Minsk).

“The meeting will take place as the Senate considers a bill that would impose tougher sanctions against Russia and its trading partners in response to Moscow’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine,” the publication notes.

Zelenskyy is in Washington to attend the memorial service for the late Senator Lindsey Graham (a Republican from South Carolina), one of the authors of the sanctions bill and a key supporter of Ukraine in Congress. Zelenskyy is also scheduled to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump on July 28.

The publication notes that small groups of senators have previously met with the Ukrainian president to discuss aid to Kyiv and the imposition of additional sanctions against Russia. A large group of senators from both parties met with Zelenskyy in Munich in February, and some senators met with him during his previous visits to Washington.
