Zelenskyy Dismissed Syrsky From His Post As Commander-in-Chief Of The Armed Forces Of Ukraine

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi has been relieved of his duties. The decision was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

This was reported by Charter97.org, citing the president’s post on Telegram.

As a reminder, last week the government underwent a reshuffle, during which Mykhailo Fedorov lost his position as Minister of Defense. Following his dismissal, he held a press conference at which he spoke about his conflict with Syrsky and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Against this backdrop, protests began in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities demanding that Fedorov be reinstated as defense minister and that Syrsky be dismissed from his post as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It should be noted that Syrsky commanded the operation to defend Kyiv at the start of the full-scale invasion, and later led the operation to liberate the Kharkiv region.

In February 2015, during the ATO, Syrsky participated in battles for Debaltseve, Vuhlehorod, and Logvinove.
