An expert named the key weapon that NATO should provide to Ukraine.
A NATO summit was held in Ankara, during which numerous statements of support for Ukraine were made. However, no concrete steps or actions have followed yet. At the same time, the Alliance is capable of strengthening Kyiv’s position in such a way that Moscow will be forced to make concessions in the war.
This opinion was expressed on the air at “Channel 24” by Yuri Bogdanov, an expert on strategic communications, who drew attention to key NATO decisions that could influence the further course of the war. He is confident that right now, the situation is the most favorable for Ukraine it has been in over four years of its confrontation with Russia.
What kind of assistance does Ukraine need most urgently?
Bogdanov noted that it is important for the Alliance to continue supplying Ukraine with missile defense systems and other air defense capabilities, as well as financial aid. As for everything else, Ukraine has been quite successful in establishing the production of the weapons it needs to attack Russia and for self-defense.
“The main thing,” he explained, “is for NATO to supply the resources we need. This primarily refers to air defense systems and aircraft. If there are sufficient supplies of both, Vladimir Putin will become more or less amenable in the relatively short term. But the question is whether this will actually happen,” he explained.
According to the strategic communications expert, Ukraine is currently in the most favorable position it has been in throughout the war, a time when NATO doesn’t need to do nearly as much as it did at the start of the war. The Alliance must demonstrate to Vladimir Putin personally that he has no chance of attacking any NATO country without facing consequences.
We need to secure NATO’s flanks. Although it might seem that Ukraine would benefit from such an escalation if Putin were to completely lose his mind, we must understand that this might open up certain opportunities for Ukraine and create the risk that Russia would be crushed if NATO were to respond. However, in any case, this would divert European resources and capabilities away from providing aid to Ukraine,” noted Yuri Bogdanov.
We must not forget, he believes, that the challenges facing Ukraine will not end with the war, since the country will have to be rebuilt afterward.
Therefore, NATO must demonstrate true unity, as the strategic communications expert emphasized, and show Russia that any actions will not go unpunished. If this is done, according to Bogdanov, Ukraine has every chance of ultimately forcing Russia to retreat.
