Fitzo Will Fly To Moscow In A "big Arc" Because Of The Ban By Poland And The Baltic States
Robert Fitzo

The countries refused to open their airspace to his plane.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo is forced to take a longer route to Moscow because Poland and the Baltic states refused to open their airspace for his plane, Marker reported.

According to the newspaper, the Slovak delegation will travel to the Russian capital in a long arc through the Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden and Finland.

The decision was made after Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland officially or on the level of personal communications banned the flight of a Slovak government plane over their territories.

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stressed that the country would not allow flights that serve to honor the aggressor.

At the same time, Scandinavian countries and Germany expressed no objection to Fitzo flying through their airspace.

The purpose of the visit to Moscow

Robert Fitzo is flying to Russia to mark the 81st anniversary of the end of World War II. The program of the trip includes laying flowers in honor of the war victims and holding bilateral talks with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

The Slovak prime minister has refused to participate in a military parade for the second year in a row, thus demonstrating his formal position on the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Now he remains the only leader of an EU country that maintains regular contacts with the Kremlin.
