There's a fire in the factory.
Drones attacked the Samara region of Russia on the morning of April 18, where a fire at a local oil refinery went up after a series of explosions, "Focus" reported.
Drones may have struck a major refinery in the town of Novokuibyshevsk in Russia's Samara region overnight. This was reported by OSINT-channels.
The network showed footage of the attack and the aftermath of the strikes. After the explosions, thick dark smoke rose in the sky above the city, and a fire broke out on the factory site itself, analysts wrote. There is no official confirmation of the attack at the time of publication.
Russian Telegram channels are also complaining about the drone attack in Novokuibyshevsk. The network writes that the loud sounds of explosions in the city occurred around 04:30 hours local time: they were heard in the eastern and northern parts of Novokuibyshevsk. In total, eyewitnesses counted at least 6-8 explosions and saw bright flashes in the sky in the background of the attack.
"An air-raid siren is sounding in the city, and 'Cover' mode is in effect at the airport," Russians wrote.
Samara Region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev had not commented on the attacks on Novokuibyshevsk at the time of publication. He only reported at around 03:00 hours that an air alert had been declared in the region amid the threat of drone attacks.
It is likely that drones may have hit the Novokuibyshevsk refinery, owned by Rosneft, this night. The enterprise is one of Rosneft's key refining facilities in the Volga region, with a capacity of 8.8 million tons of oil per year. Previously, this object of the Russian industry has already come under drone attacks.
It is worth recalling that on the night of April 18, a series of explosions took place in occupied Sevastopol: as a result of the strikes, a fire rose in the local port.
