The US president has hinted at overthrowing the government.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced a military operation in Cuba, calling it a "new dawn" for the Cuban people after 70 years of waiting.
This was reported by Charter97.org, citing the U.S. president's speech at the Turning Point USA event.
What Trump said
The American president called himself a "peacemaker" who has "settled eight wars" and added that "sometimes you have to intervene." He then turned to Cuba:
"Very soon this great power will also bring a day that has been in preparation for 70 years. It is called 'a new dawn for Cuba.' We will help them with Cuba. We have many wonderful Cuban Americans, people who have been mistreated, whose families have been killed and abused. And now watch what happens," he said.
Trump also said the operation would bring "long-awaited freedom" to the Cuban people.
Reconnaissance Activity
The day before, an intense reconnaissance presence by the U.S. Navy using the MQ-4C Triton drone was detected off the coast of Cuba. The drone is designed for maritime reconnaissance and surveillance at high altitudes.
