One Of Russia's Oldest Oil Refineries Is Ablaze In Saratov Following A Drone Attack

The plant has become a popular target for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

On the night of November 7, a fire broke out at Rosneft’s Saratov refinery following a drone attack. Sirens sounded at least twice in the city, and eyewitnesses reported flashes and explosions.

This was reported by ASTRA.

An air raid alert was issued at least twice overnight in Saratov. Local residents posted videos showing flashes and the sounds of explosions.

Based on footage from one of the eyewitnesses, ASTRA’s OSINT analysts determined that it was the Saratov Oil Refinery that was on fire. The regional governor initially reported casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure as a result of the drone attack.

The Saratov Oil Refinery is owned by Rosneft and is one of Russia’s oldest oil refineries. In 2023, it processed 4.8 million metric tons of crude oil.

The plant has repeatedly come under attack by Ukrainian drones and has halted operations several times due to damage. In particular, according to Reuters, this occurred in September 2026.

The Saratov Oil Refinery is one of the most frequent targets of Ukrainian drones. The previous attack on the refinery took place on the night of September 8: local residents reported explosions and a fire, and Governor Roman Busargin acknowledged damage to civilian infrastructure and the presence of casualties.

Over the summer, the plant halted operations twice due to strikes. The first time this happened was after the attack on July 8, when the Defense Forces struck another oil refinery, six tankers, the Borisoglebsk airfield, and several road bridges that same night. In August, the plant halted operations for a second time, and oil refining in Russia then fell to its lowest level in more than 20 years.
