Yandex's Largest Data Center In Russia Was Destroyed In Kaluga

On the night of October 9, Ukrainian defense forces carried out strikes on strategic targets in Russia’s Kaluga Region. In Kaluga, several modules of the Yandex data center were completely destroyed, according to Dialog.UA after monitoring social media.
An air raid alert was declared in the Kaluga Region on the evening of October 8 and was lifted only on October 9 at approximately 6:47 a.m. Moscow time. Temporary flight restrictions were imposed at Kaluga Airport. Residents of Kaluga reported hearing explosions during the night.
The governor of the Kaluga Region Vladislav Shapsh stated that a massive drone attack on targets in the region took place on October 9. He claims that Russian air defense forces allegedly shot down 26 Ukrainian UAVs in the skies over the region.
Later, Yandex acknowledged that on the night of October 9, the Ukrainian Armed Forces “visited” its data center in Kaluga. As a result, several modules of this data center were completely knocked out of service. This is Russia’s largest commercial data center.
As a reminder, The Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a Yandex data center for the first time on October 8. The data center in Sasovo, Ryazan Oblast, was targeted. This was Ukraine’s response to strikes by the Russian occupation forces on civilian Ukrainian data centers. Yandex confirmed that its center in Sasovo had ceased operations.
