Yuri Fedorov: Trump Wants To Understand What The Kremlin Is Hiding About The Plague
Yuri Fedorov

The epidemic in Russia could spread beyond the region.

A possible outbreak of the plague in Russia has raised questions in the U.S. Donald Trump, commenting on the situation, stated that Washington is ready to help Moscow and is “closely monitoring” the situation.

Military expert Yuri Fedorov, in an interview with the YouTube channel “And Graham Struck” explained that there may be more than just humanitarian motives behind these words. The website Charter97.org quotes an excerpt from the conversation.

— Trump’s remarks about the plague—which has not yet been officially confirmed in Russia—caused a stir. He was asked about it and said: “We’ll help them.” What could he have meant?

— If we’re talking about aid per se, the United States could send its specialists, medicines, appropriate vaccines, equipment, and so on to the area where these events are taking place.

It’s too early to call this an epidemic, but we may be dealing with an area of infection or potential infection. These are obvious steps the U.S. is capable of taking.

But I think there’s more to this than just the humanitarian aspect. There is another important point in the stance taken by Washington and the White House. When Trump spoke about possible aid, he noted that Russia does not recognize this disease as the plague. What could be an epidemic or a potential epidemic of the plague is referred to there as pneumonia.

This raises serious questions for U.S. officials: what is actually happening there? Because if it’s not “normal” pneumonic plague, then it could be something else. Potentially—something quite frightening or, at the very least, unpleasant.
That is why it is important to know exactly what disease is present. Sending specialists and equipment will not only allow us to provide assistance to actual or potential victims but also to collect the necessary biological samples. This is necessary to identify the pathogen, the source of infection, and the nature of the infection, as well as to develop countermeasures.

That is precisely why Trump, in essence, echoed the words of the Secretary of State and his National Security Advisor Rubio, stating that the United States is closely monitoring the situation.

This is understandable: any disease of unknown origin—and especially the plague—could, if events take a turn for the worse, spread beyond the region. The consequences in such a case are already clear. I think this is exactly what the American president had in mind.
