Friends — On Konstantin Ivanov, A Journalist For “Charta ’97”
Konstantin Ivanov

Thank you for being a part of our lives.

Friends write about Konstantin Ivanov—an activist with the “European Belarus” civic campaign and a journalist for the “Charter-97” website—who passed away on October 24, 2026, after a long illness:

“There are people whose presence is felt long after they’ve left the room. Konstantin was one of them.

Konstantin Ivanov—known to many of you as “Kuzya”—passed away on October 24, 2026, after a long battle with cancer, just one week before his 41st birthday. To some, he was a friend; to others, a colleague at the “Charta-97” editorial office. To many, he was simply a man who could not remain indifferent in the face of injustice. Journalist, activist, comrade-in-arms. For many years, he lived and worked in Warsaw—far from his native Vitebsk, but close to the cause he considered more important than his own peace of mind.

Today, we have the opportunity to do something for Konstantin and his family.

We are continuing to raise funds to give him a dignified send-off in Warsaw and return his ashes to his family in Belarus. The funds raised will go toward organizing the funeral service, cremation, as well as all the formalities related to transporting the urn and commemorating his memory in Belarus.

We’d be grateful for any contribution—it brings us one step closer to giving Kastus a dignified send-off. If you can’t help financially, please do one simple thing: share information about this fundraiser. Sometimes a single link you share reaches the right person—and changes everything.

Now we can come together for him—just as he stood by others for so many years.

Konstantin, thank you for being a part of our lives.

Thank you for speaking up when others were whispering. Thank you for your ability to laugh in the midst of darkness and for instilling in others a belief in a better future.

You gave us more than you even realized. And you took far less than you gave.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by here—even if only for a moment. Thank you to those who made a donation and to those who shared this information with others. Thank you to those who reached out to his family, and to those who lit a candle in their hearts.

Your presence here shows that Konstantin was not alone—and is not alone now.”
