Drone operators from the 17th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade named after Konstantin Pestushka captured the moment when a cat helped detect the enemy’s approach in advance and allowed Ukrainian defenders to adjust their tactics.
The animal approached a Ukrainian Armed Forces drone that was monitoring for the occupiers’ arrival. At one point, it became alert, reacted to a sound, and quickly ran away.
The soldiers noticed the unusual behavior of their four-legged visitor. Soon after, an ATV carrying two Russian soldiers appeared nearby.
Ukrainian operators launched the drone into the air and successfully struck the enemy target.
“This unusual story serves as a reminder that animals sometimes sense danger before humans do. And the vigilance and professionalism of our military allow us to respond to threats in a timely manner,” reads a post by the Vinnytsia Regional Operational Command and Joint Staff.
