For The First Time In The History Of The War: A Large Drone Evacuated A Ukrainian Soldier From The Battlefield

Footage from a unique operation.

For the first time in the history of the war, Ukrainian forces carried out an air evacuation of a wounded soldier from the battlefield in the Kharkiv region. A soldier who had both legs amputated was rescued from a position in the Kupiansk area using a large drone. The Northern Region Military Medical Clinical Center reported this on October 19 at Facebook.

A 49-year-old soldier named Konstantin single-handedly held the observation post: his comrade was killed by Russian airstrikes, and he himself was wounded. Several attempts to evacuate the soldier using various means, including ground-based robotic systems, failed. According to Konstantin, the occupiers did everything they could to thwart the missions.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Ground Forces reported that Konstantin is an infantryman with the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade. Under extremely difficult conditions, he continued to carry out combat missions.

“Although the Russians offered to take me prisoner, I couldn’t allow myself to do that. They’d drop a speaker here, a record player there, and put psychological pressure on me. I remember it all word for word because the recording played on a loop: ‘Brother, we know you’re here. Your comrades won’t help you. Did you hear that explosion? The next one might be aimed at you. A white lantern will get you out. And then—capture, exchange, and home!” They knew I was “No. 300,” that I’d lost my comrade-in-arms and was holding the position alone. I just shouted, “Russian warship, go…” And that was it. After that, they dropped two anti-tank mines… My command, my company commander—I’m very grateful to him—kept everything under control: along with food and water, they kept dropping medicine to me the whole time: Betadine, antibiotics, painkillers, and other things,” the soldier said.
