Czech Prime Minister: Trump Has Betrayed Europe
Andrej Babiš

Babiš strongly condemned the U.S. president's "diesel deal" with Putin.

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš believes that U.S. President Donald Trump “has effectively betrayed Europe” by striking a “diesel deal” with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Czech prime minister made this statement in Brussels during the EU leaders’ summit, according to CNN Prima NEWS.

According to Babiš, Europe is not making any real efforts to conduct peace negotiations with Russia regarding Ukraine. As a result, it remained on the sidelines during recent events when Trump struck a “diesel deal” with Putin.

“We all want peace, but that doesn’t mean we have to accept Russia’s terms. The war continues. Trump, in essence, betrayed us (that is, Europe—Ed.) by striking a deal with Putin. We must take action,” Babiš said.

Babiš is deeply concerned about the 100 billion euros earmarked for Ukraine in the European Union budget. He stated that these funds “should be provided as a loan, rather than included in a multiannual financial program.” The Czech prime minister confirmed reports previously published in the press that Prague will not act as a guarantor for this 100 billion euros.

As a reminder, on October 9, 2026, Trump announced a deal with Putin, under which Russia will sell 5 million metric tons of diesel fuel on the global market. The agreement is set to run through April 2027. Ukraine and Europe have criticized this deal, emphasizing that it will provide Russia with additional funds to continue the war.
