Half of Russia has come to a standstill.
Overnight, Ukraine launched drone strikes in Vladimir struck what was already the third major data center belonging to the Russian IT monopoly “Yandex” , leading to a massive service outage not only in Russia but also in countries friendly to it. Z-bloggers began talking about a “catastrophe”. Dialog.UA looked into the details.
As of today, 3 out of 4 major Yandex data centers are down.
Downdetector, a service that tracks outages on the Russian internet, recorded a flood of user complaints about problems accessing the “Alisa” digital assistant, “Yandex Music,” “Yandex Pay,” the “Yandex Go” taxi app, the “Yandex Pro” service for taxi drivers and couriers, “Yandex Disk,” “Yandex Food,” “Kinopoisk,” “Apteka.ru,” and the retail chains “Lenta,” “Fix Price,” and “Magnit.” In total, the outage affected about 80 services.

Service disruptions have been reported not only in Russia, but also in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Serbia, Belarus, and other countries where Yandex operates.
Z-blogger Ilya Tumanov (Fighterbomber) has, as usual, launched a barrage of threats against Ukraine. “(The Ukrainians—ed.) are trying to kill Alisa. Mine is holding up for now. Also, a number of users in Moscow aren’t seeing the list of restaurants. How to go on… I think today there will be signs saying ‘For Alisa’ on the ‘Geraniums’ and FABs,” the propagandist wrote.
Another major Z-blogger, Evgeny Golman, who isn’t as close to the Kremlin as Tumanov, advises Russians to stock up on food and prepare for a complete shutdown of all services in Russia.
“Hey guys, hello, hello! (…) My friend is running late—‘Yandex Taxi’ isn’t working. I figure, okay, I’ll have a cup of coffee. I walk into ‘Vkusno i Tochka’—the registers aren’t working either; Yandex isn’t letting me pay. That’s it! Nothing to eat, nothing to drink… You’ve managed to paralyze half the country… Where will all this lead? Our children and grandchildren will be “cut off” so badly that you’ll be surprised (—ed.). A little later, they’ll cut off the registers at “Pyaterochka” and “Magnit,” and you’ll all be left hungry. I told you: plant some potatoes! Boiled, steamed, fried, in their skins—you’ll be gobbling them up! The age of digitalization will lead us to disaster,” Golman declared.
