A third data center and more than 80 services have been taken offline.
In Russia’s Vladimir Region, reports have emerged of a drone attack and damage to a Yandex data center. Following reports of explosions, Russian users began complaining en masse about a widespread outage affecting Yandex’s cloud infrastructure and services. This was reported by the monitoring channel Exilenova+.
According to preliminary data, a major Yandex data center in Vladimir, designed to accommodate 2,880 IT racks and with a capacity of 50 MW, was hit.
Initially, the Telegram channel Exilenova+ published footage of a drone attack on Vladimir and reported that the Yandex data center had been attacked. Later, local residents reported loud explosions in the region and a fire resulting from the attack on the Yandex data center in Vladimir, after which the infrastructure began to collapse.

Subsequently, the Yandex Cloud Alert monitoring service confirmed that, as a result of the UAV attack, the data center sustained damage and ceased operations entirely.

A huge number of services went offline due to the incident. Specifically, the following services stopped working:
the “Alisa” voice assistant and the “Yandex Music” service;
the “Yandex Telemost” and “Yandex Dom” video conferencing platforms;
more than 80 key components of the Yandex Cloud platform (Compute Cloud, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, MySQL, YDB databases, and others);
corporate tools (Tracker, Wiki, Forms) and search APIs.
Currently, service disruptions have been reported in Kazan, Samara, Udmurtia, Vladivostok, Kuzbass, Bryansk, Lyubertsy, Ufa, and even in Serbia.

In addition, social media reports indicate serious issues with related services, particularly with “Yandex Taxi” in neighboring Belarus. Experts continue to assess the extent of the damage.
Two Yandex data centers have already been attacked
Reports of a possible attack in the Vladimir Region emerged after attacks on two other company data centers—in Sasovo, Ryazan Oblast, and in Kaluga.
According to an official statement from Yandex on October 9, on the night of October 7–8, the data center in Sasovo sustained serious damage as a result of a drone attack, and its operations were completely shut down. The following morning, the facility in Kaluga was attacked, where part of the infrastructure was also rendered inoperable. The company reported that none of its employees were injured.
The consequences of these attacks affected the operation of the cloud platform. Yandex Cloud’s official incident log states that the ru-central1-b availability zone remained unavailable, while specialists continued to restore the infrastructure. The company also imposed temporary restrictions on the creation of new resources to help customers resume operations of mission-critical services.
Yandex emphasized that it cannot yet provide an exact timeline for restoring equipment at the affected sites.
