The homeowner's son reacted to the arrival of the special commission.
In a village near Vitebsk, a commission of officials arrived at the home of a 76-year-old man. The homeowner’s 47-year-old son came out to meet them and began threatening them with a baseball bat, according to the regional state newspaper “Vitebskie Vesti” reported.
In September, a commission visited a 76-year-old resident of a village near Vitebsk to inspect the living conditions of elderly citizens, as planned. The homeowner’s 47-year-old son reacted to their visit.
He went out to meet the officials with a baseball bat and, according to reports, began threatening the chairman of the village executive committee, who was part of the commission.
“The man made threats against the official and used physical violence, wielding a baseball bat as a weapon. The suspect’s criminal actions consisted of attempting to strike and actually striking the victim once in the torso with the bat,” said Vitebsk District Prosecutor Igor Lisovsky.
The man faces up to seven years in prison.
