Attacks On Refineries In Russia: Kuibyshev Plant Completely Paralysed

About 14% of Russia's refining capacity has been lost.

Russia's Kuibyshev Oil Refinery near Samara has completely halted production due to damage after a drone attack on March 23, Reuters reported on Thursday, March 28, citing two sources close to the industry.

It is noted that the crude oil distillation units CDU-5 and CDU-4 stopped working at the refinery. The refinery is part of the Rosneft company. According to sources, the CDU-4 was not affected by the UAV attack, but its work depends on the damaged CDU-5 and it’s out of service now.

At the end of 2023, the Kuibyshev refinery became the 29th largest refinery in Russia in terms of production, it processed 3.687 million tons of crude oil, produced 624,000 tons of gasoline, 1.187 million tons of diesel fuel and 1.040 million tons of fuel oil.

According to Reuters, about 14% of Russia lost about 14% of its whole oil refining capacity after the drone strikes. The Russian Federation is forced to increase fuel imports from Belarus to solve the problem of possible fuel shortages.
