Belarusian Scientists Develop Remedy Against Baldness

The effectiveness has been tested on the first patients.

Scientists from the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Belarus have developed a novelty that will help to cope with baldness, reports the state publication of "SB. Belarus Today."

The NAS has completed testing of various projects under the state programme of "Science-Intensive Technologies and Engineering". Several new products based on cell technologies were tested. Their effectiveness was tested on the first patients, and now they hope to organise the widespread use of these drugs.

According to the researchers, the new technology should help in cases where the problem is caused by stress, coronavirus or some other unfavourable factors.

"We extract stem cells from the hair follicle and multiply them in the right amount," said Hanna Paleshka, head of the Laboratory of Molecular Cell Biology.

Then, according to her, the multiplied cells are injected into patients. The expected effect was noticeable in almost 70%. This is, in particular, an increase in hair thickness and growth of downy hair.
