The Russian political scientist spoke about the victory of Shoigu and Gerasimov over the head of the Wagner PMC.
There was a small military coup in Putin's bunker. The generals of the occupying army rallied, came to Putin and demanded to stop raids on Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov by Ramzan Kadyrov and Yevgeny Prigozhin. The military managed to win and now they are working against Prigozhin. Russian political scientist and publicist Andrey Piontkovsky told about it.
According to Apostrophe, he explained that on the night of January 11, a "mini-military coup" took place in Putin's bunker. Defenсe Minister Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff Gerasimov forced to remove Surovikin, whom the expert calls "Prigozhin's appointee", and appoint Gerasimov instead.
“We see that Putin has been proving to society since the summer or even the spring of last year that the generals are responsible. He also let his two dogs off the leash, Prigozhin and Kadyrov. They insulted Gerasimov and Shoigu badly. They demanded that they be demoted, that they are sent barefoot to the front to redeem the guilt... Everything was coming to the point that Putin would do to Gerasimov the same Stalin did to General Pavlov. The last was shot... But they did not wait for such a fate, but I must say that all this generals' party is quite united, and now they came and demanded Putin to stop this campaign and return Gerasimov," Piontkovsky said.
He also added that the generals managed to convince Putin that Prigozhin had great political ambitions since he personally turned to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with an initiative to, let's say, negotiate. Perhaps they even provided Putin with some evidence documents.
“In general, Prigozhin has already gone crazy, and he has positioned himself as a future political leader. And now Gerasimov and Shoigu have achieved their goal, and now they are dealing with Prigozhin of the books,” Andrey Piontkovsky emphasized.
