Former president of the International Ice Hockey Federation René Fasel has become the main owner of a major Russian apple producer, Interfax reports.

According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, last week Fasel received a 54% stake in Alma Holding LLC. Until now, a similar package was on the balance sheet of the Swiss Procuri S.A. The remaining 46% belongs to Volga Group Agro, which is part of the Volga Group, owned by entrepreneur Gennady Timchenko.

Fasel has led the IIHF since 1994. The Swiss left the presidency of the organization in 2021. According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, at the moment he is a citizen of Russia. As an individual entrepreneur, Fazel was included in the Unified State Register of Individual Entrepreneurs in January 2022.

Alma is engaged in the cultivation of premium apples using intensive technology in the Krasnodar Territory. It owns almost 400 hectares of orchards.
