Russian Nuclear Cruiser Admiral Nakhimov, Aircraft Carrier Admiral Kuznetsov Not To Go On Water

There are not enough spare parts to complete the repair.

The aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov and the cruiser Admiral Nakhimov cannot return to the Russian Navy. Their transfer is likely to be postponed again.

This was reported in the Russian media, according to Channel 24. There are not enough spare parts to complete the repair.

Vladimir Korolev, Deputy General Director of the United Shipbuilding Corporation JSC for military shipbuilding, said that the transfer of the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier and the Admiral Nakhimov cruiser to the Russian Navy may be delayed.

"Due to delays in the supply of equipment by cooperation enterprises, there is a possibility of shifting the deadlines for the transfer of the Admiral Kuznetsov fleet to 2024. The same applies to the cruiser Admiral Nakhimov," the official said.

According to him, the company, of course, is doing everything possible to complete the repair on schedule, but there is a risk of delay.

The dates for the transfer of the aircraft carrier and cruiser have already been shifted twice. According to Defense Express, the modernization started back in 2013.

At first, the repair was promised to be completed "by the end of 2021 at the latest". Then the deadlines were shifted by another 2 years. The reason was claimed to be problems with contractors.

According to Russian media, as a result of modernization, Admiral Nakhimov should become a carrier of:

Zircon hypersonic missiles,

Onyx supersonic anti-ship missiles,

Caliber cruise missiles.

The total number of such missiles in the ship's ammunition should be 70 units.

In its previous modification, there were only 20 P-700 Granit missiles.
