Officials Do Not Follow Lukashenka's Orders

The situation in Brest proves it.

Lukashenka's orders are not obeyed by local officials, as they are not controlled by him. As reported by Radio Racyja, Brest social activist Fiodar Piatrusevich, who took an active part in the protests against the battery plant near Brest, is convinced of that:

- Officials of Brest Regional Executive Committee, regional officials do not fulfill any of Lukashenka's official decrees. Therefore, it is not surprising to me that he said that a referendum had to be held, and they simply ignored it.

Last June 22, at a meeting with the initiative group against the battery plant in Brest, Lukashenka said that the referendum would take place. However, now the local authorities state that there is no need for such a procedure.
