Partisan Drivers Win. The MOT Test to Be Parted With the State Duty

Partisan Drivers Win. The MOT Test to Be Parted With the State Duty

There are many reasons why the situation is noteworthy.

Ministry of Finance of Belarus is working on a draft decree to part the state duty and the MOT test. The payment may be made once in several months.

According to the decree, the duty will be paid by citizens based on the planned period of participation in road traffic.

If a citizen does not drive a vehicle (for example, in winter), the duty will not be paid. Citizens who use vehicles all year round will have the chance to use a lower coefficient of 0.8 against the duty rate.

The new rules come into effect on January 1, 2020. The Prime Minister announced their adoption a year ago. This was one of the first major decisions of Siarhei Rumas in his new position, Salidarnasts writes.

Experts called the introduction of a monthly road tax "a great half-measure". Anyway, it was progress. Some categories of citizens breathed with relief.

But something went wrong. The rules were not adopted then. The reason for it revealed only in May. According to Deputy Finance Minister Dzmitry Kiyko, the proposal was not agreed upon with Lukashenka.

All this time, the Belarusians have continued to ignore the MOT test and the state duty. It seems that partisan drivers defeated the "head of the state".
