Taylor Swift has released four new songs on the expanded edition of her album *The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore*, and three of them immediately bring the singer back to the theme of past relationships. Despite her happy marriage to Travis Kelce, Swift clearly has no intention of turning the page on this chapter of her life for good, writes Variety.

In “Patient Zero,” she addresses her ex’s new girlfriend and warns her about the man who once seemed like a good guy to her. However, Swift herself is no longer singing from the perspective of someone going through a breakup, but rather from that of someone who has long since moved on from the relationship.

“She’s not talking about this because she’s still suffering, but to remind us of the past,” the publication writes.

“Pink Clouding” sounds much sadder. In the song, Swift recalls a man she once left herself and admits that, years later, she regrets it.

“Years later, I’m still wondering how to ask you for forgiveness,” she sings.

The fourth track, “Babylon,” turned out to be more enigmatic. In it, Swift speaks of a past love without her former resentment—rather, with empathy and understanding.

Against this backdrop, “Cleveland!” stands out sharply from the overall picture. It’s a carefree song about her love for Kelsey, in which the singer speaks with genuine delight about family happiness.

It seems the past hasn’t disappeared from her songs—it’s just that the present has now joined it.
