Tom Cruise Walked The Red Carpet With Members Of The Royal Family

Prince William and Kate Middleton joined the Hollywood star.

The world premiere of the film “Digger,” directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and starring Tom Cruise, took place in London. The screening in Leicester Square was designated a royal event. Prince William and Kate Middleton appeared on the red carpet, according to Deadline (translation by Charter97.org).

The royal couple first met with Cruise and Iñárritu, then greeted the rest of the cast. Also in attendance at the premiere were Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemons, Emma D’Arcy, Sophie Wilde, and Michael Stuhlbarg. Among the guests were David Beckham, Salma Hayek, and director J.J. Abrams.

Before the screening began, Cruise thanked the royal family for their support of British cinema.

“We want to thank Their Highnesses for supporting this event. We love them and greatly appreciate what they do for the arts in this country and around the world,” said the actor.

Iñárritu, in turn, praised Cruise for his work on set.

“Every day, he brought incredible generosity and positive energy to the set. His enthusiasm is contagious—sometimes even too much,” joked the director.

In *Digger*, Cruz plays oil tycoon Digger Rockwell—the most powerful man in the world. After an environmental disaster that he himself caused, the protagonist tries to prove to humanity that he is capable of saving it.

*Digger* will be released internationally on September 30.
