Strikes by Ukrainian UAVs created the conditions for this.

The Russian Federation’s fuel problems give U.S. President Donald Trump an opportunity to ramp up pressure on the Kremlin and truly bring the war against Ukraine closer to an end. This view was expressed in a column for The Hill by Joseph Webster, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council .

According to the expert, Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian energy infrastructure have already led to a gasoline shortage in Russia. Webster believes that Washington could maintain pressure on Russia’s fuel infrastructure while simultaneously restricting gasoline supplies to Russia.

“Sanctions on gasoline imports to Russia could lead to peace in Ukraine,” the analyst said. He noted that Moscow has already banned the export of jet fuel, gasoline, and diesel, while long lines are forming at gas stations across various regions of the aggressor country. Belarus has increased fuel supplies, while Kazakhstan, which is experiencing its own shortage, has restricted exports.
