US And Iran Prepare New Round Of Talks

The United States and Iran are actively discussing holding a new round of talks to end the war.

According to AP, the meeting could take place as early as Thursday, April 16. The venue has not yet been finalized: two options are being considered - Pakistan's capital Islamabad or Geneva.
The Atlantic's journalist Arash Azizi, citing a source in Tehran, also noted that the talks are likely to take place in Islamabad.
Level of talks
According to media reports, US Vice President J.D. Vance, who led the US delegation during the first round, is likely to be absent from the meeting. The level of representation is expected to be lower.
Previous round and key demands
The first direct talks between the US and Iran were held April 10-12 in Islamabad. They lasted about 21 hours but ended without reaching an agreement.
The US insisted on Iran's complete abandonment of its nuclear program, particularly a 20-year moratorium on uranium enrichment. Iran rejected this proposal, offering a much shorter term of less than 10 years. It was this disagreement that became the main obstacle to the agreements.
