Putin Increased The Authorized Strength Of The Russian Armed Forces

Russia's dictator Vladimir Putin has signed a decree setting the full-time strength of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) at 2,391,770, of which 1,502,604 are military personnel, according to the presidential decree.

The text of the decree says that the old decree on the size of the Russian Armed Forces from September 2024 is recognized as null and void. The previous decree set the number of troops to 2,389,130. The new decree increases the number of staff by about 2,000 people.

The decree of 2024 then set the number of troops at 1.5 million. It increased by 180 thousand people compared to the decree of 2023. Then the authorized strength of the Russian Armed Forces rose to 2,209,130 people, including 1.32 million servicemen.

In December last year, speaking on a direct line, Putin said that over 400,000 people had joined the Russian army as contractors over the year.
