During the counteroffensive, new areas were liberated.
The AFU at the junction of Zaporizhzhya and Dnipropetrovsk regions have liberated new areas, which the Russian occupiers wanted to use for an offensive on Orekhov and Volnyansk. This told military expert Bogdan Miroshnikov.
According to him, the AFU had additional successes in the Gulyaypol direction: there was an alignment of the front in some areas.
The Russian occupants planned to seize bridgeheads on the western bank of the Gaichur River to continue their offensive in Zaporizhzhya region, but the Ukrainian fighters knocked them out of there.
Miroshnikov emphasized that these are only preliminary results of the counter-offensive of the AFU on this section of the front. Ukrainian fighters continue the operation.
He believes that in the course of the counteroffensive, the AFU units should approach Uspenovka and cover it (a settlement in Zaporizhzhya region, which was previously captured by the occupying army of the Russian Federation - ed.).
He said that recently the intensity of the counter-offensive has decreased, but the Ukrainian fighters continue their assault actions.
We recall that the Russian occupiers launched an offensive on the town of Gulyaypol in Zaporizhzhya region in late October 2025. They managed to capture several settlements, but the AFU stopped the enemy. Now the fighting is taking place in the area of Gulyaypol and Zheleznodorozhnoye, as well as to the north of them - at the junction of Zaporizhzhya and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

According to the AFU General Staff, yesterday, March 3, the Russian occupants attacked AFU positions 25 times in the Gulyaypol direction. Ukrainian fighters repulsed all attacks. The fighting took place in the area of Gulyaypol and towards Zheleznodorozhnoe, Varvarovka, Gulyaypolskyi, Staroukrainka, etc.
The Commander-in-Chief of the AFU Alexander Syrskyi said that during the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian army at the junction of Zaporizhzhya and Dnipropetrovsk regions about 400 square kilometers of territory were liberated from the enemy. The Russians were also knocked out of 8 settlements.
