Boris Grebenshchikov Became A British Citizen

Mention of the musician's Russian citizenship has been erased in all databases.

The founder of the cult band "Aquarium", Russian rock legend, musician and composer Boris Grebenshchikov has become a full British citizen, and references to his Russian citizenship have been erased in databases. Thus the artist has finally changed his citizenship to British.

The Russian state agency drew attention to the fact that the company BG PLUS LLP, established in 2022, on March 16, 2026 filed documents to change the personal data of the founders - Boris and Irina Grebenshchikov. The notice states that the musician and his wife have become British citizens.

Boris Grebenshikov has not lived in Russia for several years. The musician has repeatedly publicly spoken out against the war with Ukraine. In June 2023, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation declared Grebenshchikov a "foreign agent".

In October 2025, it was reported that an administrative protocol was drawn up on the musician. The reason was the absence of the "foreign agent" patch in the video posted on YouTube, in which Grebenshchikov performs the song Bulat Okudzhava "You can't turn back the past." The musician was fined 40,000 rubles.
