A fire broke out.

On the grounds of the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, a missile hit a helipad. A column of smoke rose above the diplomatic compound.

According to AP.

A missile strike was reported to the publication by two Iraqi security officials.

Video released by the Associated Press shows a column of smoke rising over the diplomatic mission grounds Saturday morning.

The U.S. Embassy complex in the Iraqi capital is one of the largest U.S. diplomatic facilities in the world. It has previously been repeatedly targeted by missile and drone attacks, which authorities say are carried out by Iran-affiliated militant groups.

The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad has not yet commented on the incident.

The day before, on Friday, the diplomatic mission updated its security alert for Iraq to level four. The message noted that Iran and affiliated militias have previously attacked U.S. citizens, interests and infrastructure and may continue such actions.
